Tuesday 3rd August – walk and bike *** – 1. Early morning prom walk and 2. Landguard – sunny and warm.

Walk 1.

As it was another nice morning, we were down on the prom again fairly early at 6.30 to check if the Ever Given was still moored off The Dip, it was and I hope to see it enter port later if I can find out what time? Definitely more people about today so we did not walk far heading up the cliff just past the Spa and home. The usual morning at home exercises in the sunshine while Mag sorts out the garden.

Bike 2.

Being keen to see the Ever Given come in I went and checked on my bike a couple of times, I even made it down to the pier after it was reported on Facebook that it had left its moorings but it was moving so slowly, I headed home and made us both a roll for dinner before slowly heading to Landguard along a very busy prom and beach with people enjoying the nice weather. The container ship had actually stopped and was facing the wrong way out by the Wadegate post so I was in no hurry. I then headed to the dock view point which was packed with a good crowd patiently waiting with a TV camera here as was Suffolk Radio, and all this for a next to empty container ship to enter port, a sight you actually see nearly every day here! I then biked onto the beach at Landguard to wait. The DFDS ferry was passing the Ever Given and two tugs were heading out so things were starting to move as the ship slowly made its way in. I was joined by windsurfing mate Ian as it entered the Orwell. We then walked along the Orwell taking pics along the way, to be honest it was all a little underwhelming seeing an empty container ship slowly come in! I made it all the way back to the view point with a large crowd as the Ever Given was slowly turned to be berthed at the first berth near the Trimley marshes end.
